Breath of fire 2 download pc
This long, absorbing game offers plenty of story turns, intense battles, and intriguing characters. Bigger and longer than the original , Breath II takes place hundreds of years after the first game with descendants of the initial characters.
There are also cameo appearances by fighters from the first game Karn and Bo , and one even joins your party -- the snake sorceress, Bleu! Anyone who played the first game will take to this one immediately; it retains the overhead battle scenes and traveling scenes. The controls are very good and simple to master.
However, you can attack your own party members something you'll need to do if any of them are turned into zombies , so take extra care when selecting your targets in a fight. The menu-driven play mechanics are a little different. In addition to the usual statistics, such as strength and stamina, there are two new items. The first is the Monster meter, represented by a little green critter at the top of the character-menu screen.
He alerts you to monsters in the area by frantically jumping around. Look for shamans in the dungeons and castles. If you collect enough, you can give your characters new looks and super abilities.
The other is the Dragon's Tear -- an insignia that appears when talking to people. Depending on the colors it displays, you catch emotional undercurrents and even tell if someone is lying or not.
The story is long and complex with side jour -- where some the characters must confront demons from their past in order to proceed. Yet with all the tangents, the story never loses focus, especially when the epic draws to a close. In addition to the usual scheme of character powers emerging after experience points are acquired, there are six rough wizards -- shamans -- who can bestow super powers. If you can find them, any two in combination can give you lethal attacks, depending on the character.
You start with two characters, but a total of nine will join your party. Try before you consider buying. I knew full well going into Dragon Quarter that I was going to die and have to restart--it's just a component of the gameplay. Perhaps this is why I never became frustrated like grumpy oP Shane.
In fact, I kinda liked being able to start over at any time in order to replay areas with built-up stats and check out additional cut-scenes. The SOL system captured my attention, and the insanely cool, ultrastrategic battle system sucked me in further.
The soundtrack rocks, too. The game may be a little out there, but seriously, this is just what the genre needs. I will admit right now that when I first started playing Dragon Quarter, I hated it. Yes, the game's graphics are gorgeous, the character design is amazing, the music is fantastic, and the unique strategy-battle system rocks the house, but the game's scarcity of save points, clumsy inventory system, and seemingly impossible difficulty level made me wanna holler.
Never before have I played a game that was designed to make me level up, make partial progress, and restart the game better prepared than before. While coming to grips with this system was initially frustrating, I stuck with it and saw it through to the rewarding end.
A sleeper. It's nice to see the occasional role-playing game that isn't formulaic, something that shows the developer took some time to create a plot worth living in a game worth playing.
Dragon Quarter: Breath of Fire does that so surprisingly well and in so many different ways, it almost transcends the RPG genre. In Ryu's world a persons importance is measured by their D-Ratio which both identifies who they are and their latent potential. Unfortunately, Ryu's is exceptionally low ' until me meets the dragon that infuses Ryu with special abilities and cranks up his D-Ratio. Unfortunately, as the game progresses the D-Ratio increases until it finally kills him, unless you can stop it.
The Breath of Fire series moves into the new millennium with a visual makeover that can only be described as stunning. Essentially the fifth chapter in the series, BOF working title introduces a new "survival" element.
The survival element allows gamers to choose whether they want to engage or avoid enemies. And once you've finished the game once, you can play through it again using your fully powered-up characters. Spanning many worlds of play, this one will definitely keep you excited and waiting to see what's next. The most notable feature of Breath of Fire is the fantastic fighting sequences.
Here you can conjure up all sorts of wicked spells or clash head-on with swords and staffs blazing! The game is divided up into several chapters with mini plots in between. Successful completion of these mini plots will allow you to explore new worlds which yield unending power. Frequently, your party will come across towns which harbor new crew members as well as weapon and medical shops.
There are eight characters which can either willingly join the party or you can pay them to help you fight! Expect an April release for Breath of Fire!
You and your band of adventurers search the land for the seven Goddess Keys in an RPG that some players may find to be too short, but packed with fine features. Breath of Fire, at 12 megs, could easily end up being the best RPG of the year. As one of the few remaining members of the Light Dragon clan, it's up to you to restore peace and order by unraveling the mystery behind the Dark Dragons' evil reign. Your adventure takes you through deserts, forests, castles, bazaars, magical towers, oceans, and much more.
Eight different characters eventually join your party, each with his or her own talents and powers. One character, for example, can transform into a bird and fly the party around the world. Another can take you underwater as he changes, at will, into a fish! You can even gain the power to reverse day and night! What RPG fan can't get excited about a game like this? It's sure to follow in the rather impressive footsteps of Square Soft's earlier hits when it's released in July.
